No, it is a magnetic mount only, with no built-in charging. To charge while driving, plug the iPhone into a cable connected to the cigarette lighter socket or to a USB port in the car.

How do I avoid marking the vent with the hook?

The manufacturer states a thick silicone pad on the contact side, which limits rubbing. Tighten the wheel just enough to hold the mount in place, without forcing on soft plastic.

How do I remove the mount?

Loosen the wheel, then release the hook from the slat: the mount comes off by hand, without tools. There is no adhesive on the vent.
